Stepping Stones Towards Meditation

A Joyful Path.

The body needs to be in complete harmony...

1)Physical body : The physical body is the temple of the Truth. The physical body is covered with the universal energy and has its own intelligence for healing.

There are over 7 trillion cells working in harmony. It needs be be taken care of.
Here are some suggestions:

a. Have a discipline for the well being of your physical body -Schedule an exercise plan at least 3 times a week. See what you like most, walking, swimming, etc.

This will make you feel more energetic, brings oxygen to the cells of your body, relieves stress and clears the mind.

b. Learn any type of yoga and plan to have it at least for 15 minutes each day. This will create balance. Our body consists of 7 major chakra’s (wheels of energy).

Through these chakra’s the body will receive the Energy of Spirit at all the time. We need to make sure that these chakras are open, and functioning in the right direction and learn:

•         How to open the chakra’s by practicing yoga
•         How to give energy to the body on a daily basis

c .Eat a good nutritious food. Most fruits and vegetables are living foods filled with the energy. Try to stay away from dead foods like meats, caffeine, sugar and saturated fat.

d. Have a good night’s  sleep to restore and refresh your body for the next day.

e. Learn how to take deep breaths everyday since we are not only bringing oxygen to your lungs, but also the Energy of Spirit (Prana). Every morning and late at night  go outdoors and practice this breathing for at least 10 deep breaths. Inhaling for 4 seconds, holding 4 seconds and releasing 4 seconds. After a week, see how you feel. You will be amazed!!

f. For the physical body, Live well. Have and reach all the materials that you were dreaming about. A beautiful home with all the facilities, a luxurious car and enjoyment vacations.

These are necessities and we need to fulfill them all. They bring us pleasure and happiness that this world can give us. Do not deprive the false self  from any of those pleasures.

2) Mind : Have a discipline to learn for stimulation of your mind. Try to read new books and learn new things every day. We don’t live long enough to experience everything ourselves. So many of those exercises have been already done by others and the lessons to learn is right there. Don’t read any kind of book. Some books are only worthwhile to read once; however, some books needed to be read over and over again on daily basis.

Now that we prepared the physical, and mental  dimensions, we are ready to go within and practice Meditation.
Meditation: As Osho says: Meditation is to be in harmony within and without. Meditation is being the harmony. By Meditation, we will try to harmonize all capacities together.
The main Purpose of Meditation from the Eastern culture is to go within to get to know who you are. It is for a self-realization purpose only. The focus of it is in “nothingness.” It is to discover the Truth and the authentic Joy within.

Here are some initial steps to prepare for Mediation:

First and foremost, talk less. Do not say anything that is unnecessary. What I mean by unnecessary is that, if you don’t say it, it will not effect anything in the world. So when you want to talk, make sure that it is absolutely necessary, otherwise relinquish the need for talking constantly. In the path of self-realization, the important issue is that we start the silence from outside. In other words, be stingy with the words you speak.
Each day, try to fine a few minutes to silent your mind (inner silence). Once our whole body quiets down, physically, mentally and emotionally, we will betapped to the universal energy. Once your practice silence, you will acquire silent knowledge. In this silence, there is a calculating system that is far more precise and far more accurate and more powerful than anything that is in the limitations of our rational mind.

Someone asked the Shaikh Attar, one of the greatest Sufi in Iran, “please give us 10 important keys for reaching to a true happiness” His response was: 1. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash), 2. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash), 3. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash), 4. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash), 5. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash),…10. Stay silent (Khamoosh baash).
Of course what he means is not only outer silence (not to talk), but also the inner silence (quiet our mind).

Meditation is to watch the thoughts coming and going like clouds in the sky, there will be a gap in between the two clouds. As Osho says: “In that gap, you see for the first time. Thinking is not there, but knowing happens and that is the point of transformation. You have lived with a mind so long. Suddenly it has stopped. The emptiness is very scary. Once you have taken the jump and seen the other side of the phenomenon and have read the board from the other side, here begins God. Then you are at ease. Then there is no problem-- The mind itself-- is gone. Then one starts living for the first time. Destroy your mind-destroy your ego too-because they are two names for the same thing.”

Meditation is healing. It is purifying. It will eventually points to the Truth...
